About Us

Greetings from President

We have produced Dustless Chalk for as long as 85 years, and in that history it has been 63 years since we started intellectual disability employment. As a president of the Nihon Rikagaku Industry co.,ltd., I would like to thank all of you who have supported our company until now.

Every single day, each of our employees works very hard to improve and make a difference. To respond their effort the company also makes utmost effort to realize joy of work for the employees.

We are proud to be a company where its employees can have joy and happiness, keeping continued gratitude and respect to our clients, vendors and supporters in the local community. Moreover, we aim to be an insatiably-ambitious developer of the products which is good for the society and environment, to produce in a safe and secure way.

Not just remaining satisfied with the present, I do my work with creative ingenuity to better our products and management, and to intensify capacity of myself. Together with the employees with dignity who are committed to work with sense of meaning and responsibility to all their actions, I would like to make the company to be a representative company of Japan realizing multiple intellectual disability employments.

Corporate History

February 1937 Nihon Rikagaku Industry co.,ltd. founded by Yozo Oyama in Kamata, Ota Ward, Tokyo, with 80,000yen in capital.
September 1953 Its product was designated to be Educational Ministry's procurement product as hygienic and innocuous chalk.
April 1956 Its factory obtained JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) certification (Tokyo).
March 1960 Started the intellectual disabled employment (by hiring 2 employees).
July 1962 Hanayo Oyama became President.
March 1965 Received a visit from Labor Minister Hirohide Ishida.
September 1967 Established Bibai Factory in Bibai City, Hokkaido.
June 1973 Senior Executive Director Yasuhiro Oyama visited Crown Prince's Palace to give a briefing to the Crown Prince and Princess (present Emperor and Empress), on the employment situation of the intellectually-intellectual disabled.
January 1974 Yasuhiro Oyama became President
September 1975 Established Japan's first model-factory for hiring multiple mentally and physically intellectual disability employees, in Takatsu Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa.
December 1981 President Yasuhiro Oyama awarded the Prime Minister's Prize, on the occasion of the final year of the International Year of Disabled Persons.
September 1989 Kawasaki Factory awarded Labor Minister's Prize.
February 1990 Increased capitalization to 20 million yen.
April 1992 Kawasaki Factory received a visit from Labor Minister Tetsuo Kondo.
September 2003 President Yasuhiro Oyama awarded prizes by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Chairman of the Japan Association for Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
January 2004 Kawasaki Factory awarded Kanagawa Prefecture's Quality Factory prize.
April 2004 President Yasuhiro Oyama awarded the Medal of the Order of the Sacred Treasure (Zuiho Tanko-sho)
February 2005 Awarded Corporate Philanthropy Award's "Shakai Kyosei (convivial society)" award.
February 2008 Selected as one of the 300 creator companies of "Monozukuri" (manufacturing) brands.
April 2008 Yasuhiro Oyama became Chairman, and Takahisa Oyama became President.
February 2009 Chairman Yasuhiro Oyama awarded Shibusawa Eiichi Prize

October 2009 Kawasaki Factory received a visit from Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.
October 2010 Award the Minister of Agriculture's Prize of the "Reduce Reuse Recycle" [Dustless Chalk]
